Visible Mending Workshop

£50.00

The Visible Mending Workshop is a hands‑on, wellbeing‑focused textile class designed to teach participants how to repair clothing creatively while enjoying the calming rhythm of slow stitching. it is suitable for complete beginners as well as experienced sewers who want to explore more expressive, sustainable approaches to mending and embellishing clothes. The class blends practical repair skills with mindful making, encouraging participants to slow down, enjoy the process, and reconnect with their garments in meaningful ways. It will also empower participants to extend the life of their clothing and celebrate creativity through expressive, visible mending.

Visible mending transforms wear and tear into an opportunity for creativity. Instead of hiding repairs, participants learn to highlight them with colour, texture, and personality. This approach is ideal for: beginners who want simple, forgiving
techniques, experienced sewers seeking new creative challenges, eco‑conscious makers wanting to reduce textile waste and anyone craving a mindful, hands‑on activity.

Participants will learn: basic hand‑sewing and slow stitching techniques, patching methods (woven and decorative), reinforcement stitching for strengthening worn areas and creative embroidery‑based mends.

You will need to bring a garment – jacket, jeans, shirt etc to visibly mend and enjoy slow mindful stitching.

A variety of threads and fabrics will be provided, bring any special threads you have of your own that you may want to include. You could bring a basic sewing kit If you have one.
